KATHY BRUMFIELD KORT

I worked for a year between high school and college since I was only 16 when I graduated. I worked for Bank Americard (which eventually became VISA)....I decided credit and collections wasn't what I wanted to do so I went to college to pursue my interests in interior design and fashion. As fate would have it, after graduation I went to work for IBM (credit, collections and order management) because they offered me the most money!! I stayed with IBM for 26 years...bridge to retirement and worked for Siemens and retired from Hewlett-Packard.

Military Service: None. However, my husband was retired from the Navy - he was a Chief Petty Officer.

I lived in the Bay Area until 1999 ---my husband and I then moved to Roseville where I went to work for Hewlett-Packard. Moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills in 2004 and retired from HP in 2007.

My first marriage of six years ended in divorce. I was married 18 years to my second husband. He passed away last year. I have no children but I have three step-sons and five step grandchildren. I am very close to my step-son and daughter-in-law who live in Roseville. My parents are still alive and live in assisted living in Roseville.

I love to travel - China (2 times), England (4 times), France (3 times), Ireland, Scotland, 2 Caribbean cruises, Alaska cruise and Canada and New England cruise. I enjoy old movies, closed circuit opera performances from the Met; active in a book group; like historical fiction; belong to Great Decisions group....also belong to a monthly bunko group. I belong to the American Association of University Women - past President Roseville-South Placer; Placer League of Women Voters and Lincoln Hills Democrats. I like dogs and cats but allergic to cats.

Favorite movies of all time include Calendar Girls; Gone with the Wind; PBS Series - Jewel and the Crown; Nine to Five; big fan of Helen Mirren; Judi Dench and Meryl Streep.

Education: Bachelor of Arts - San Francisco State University; four outstanding service awards - IBM; AAUW Educational Foundation Named Honoree San Jose Branch; Past President recognition - AAUW Roseville/South Placer branch; several service awards from Siemens and HP.

I currently live in Sun City Lincoln Hills....I have been retired 2 1/2 years and love it...transition of work to retirement was very easy since I have a large network of friends who are also retired.
